Singapore SME software workshops: checking data export before choosing a system
Use a workshop or demonstration to test whether you can retrieve usable business records.

Start with these checks
- Relevant workflow is demonstrated
- Questions about exports and handover are allowed
- Software costs and trial conditions are explicit
The problem
You are replacing a manual process in a Singapore small business, but the software demonstration shows attractive dashboards without explaining how your team could export records, leave the service or continue working during a changeover.
List the records you must be able to retrieve
Before attending, name the records that would stop your operation if they were unavailable: open orders, customer reference codes, inventory movements or job status. Separate a printable report from data another system can use. Your aim is a concrete question about a necessary record, not a general assurance that the product has an export button.
Request a small complete example
Ask the demonstrator to show how an invented record moves from entry to correction and then export. Notice whether links between records, attached files and relevant dates survive. You can discuss this with a small fictional dataset; do not upload customer records to an event demonstration just because the room is interested in your business problem.
Ask about the handover steps
Find out who initiates an export, which access is needed, whether a departing user can still obtain it and how long processing takes. Ask for the current written terms after the event when the answer affects a purchase. A speaker’s quick verbal response is a starting point for verification, not a substitute for the conditions of your actual contract.
Choose advice or a workshop to suit the unresolved question
SME Centre @SMCCI’s provider description checked on 8 October 2026 distinguishes advisory, capability workshops and group projects. A workshop can expose a comparison method; an advisory conversation may be more suitable for explaining your own process constraints. Confirm the current format and eligibility rather than assuming every service is a public event on the same admission terms.

Questions and answers
Is a PDF report the same as a usable data export?
No. A readable report may omit relationships or fields needed for a system change. Define what the next user or system needs before deciding whether an export is sufficient.
Can Boardzip tell me that a product is suitable?
Boardzip helps you find and check event listings. Product suitability still requires your own requirements, a current demonstration and the applicable written terms.
