The problem

Your Singapore graduate CV lists modules and project titles, but an event conversation ends before anyone understands what you personally decided or produced.

Choose one task you can substantiate

Use a project decision you can explain and support, rather than the largest project title. Label its origin accurately: coursework, volunteering, a personal exercise or employment. A team output does not identify your own contribution. e2i’s coaching-preparation article recommends a clear appointment goal; apply that preparation principle by choosing one role-related question, while checking whether the actual event offers feedback.

Write a seven-field contribution card

Record the example’s origin; intended task; your own action; inputs or work supplied by others; a permitted output you can show; the result you actually observed; and the remaining limit or review question. These fields are a preparation aid, not an employer assessment form. “Our team built a catalogue” describes a group result. “I entered readable labels and marked uncertain ones” identifies a contribution a reviewer can discuss.

Check permission and the viewing route

Use only material you are authorised to share. A private conversation, a projected screen and an advance upload can have different recipients. Ask what format is wanted, remove unnecessary private information and keep an offline copy if appropriate. Removing a name alone does not establish permission to disclose the underlying work. If permission is unresolved, keep the original item private and use a clearly labelled neutral exercise instead of implying a client or employment result.

Read back one fictional example

Every person, number and item in this example is invented. A coursework team prepares a catalogue from six supplied label images. A teammate supplies the photographs; the graduate enters four readable labels and marks two unreadable; another teammate builds the search interface. The graduate has not examined original objects or tested the completed interface. Their card can accurately describe the entry work and unresolved inputs, while crediting the other contributions. “I built and verified the entire catalogue” would claim work and checks they did not perform.

Ask for feedback on the specific gap

Ask what the example establishes for one stated duty and what still needs evidence. For the fictional catalogue, a question could be, “For record-entry work, what should a reviewer see about the two unreadable inputs and the entries made from supplied images?” A comment that the card explains the contribution more clearly can justify reorganising it. It does not verify the images, demonstrate interface testing or assess the graduate for a role. Record what was shown, who commented and what they actually examined.

Choose the next action from the remaining question

If your contribution is unclear, revise its explanation. If a method or check was never performed, plan appropriate learning or a separate permitted exercise and record its own result. MySkillsFuture distinguishes career-path research, training and personalised advice; choose a route that addresses the actual gap. Search Boardzip’s free career listings for a suitable practitioner or feedback format, then confirm what review is offered. A rehearsal target is your preparation, and an evidence discussion does not automatically create an application, referral or portfolio appointment.

Questions and answers

Do I need a commercial project?

A modest assignment can support a useful discussion when you explain your own work and its limits. Do not invent client impact or production use.

Should I send the portfolio afterwards?

Ask whether the person wants it, what is relevant and which channel to use. Share only material you have permission to disclose.

Can I claim the team’s complete output as my own work?

Separate the team result from your action and other contributors. State which checks you performed and which remain unperformed.

What do the fictional four entered labels establish?

They describe entries made from supplied images in the invented exercise. Two inputs remain unreadable; original-object verification and interface testing remain unperformed.

Does clearer presentation after feedback demonstrate a new skill?

Record the actual change. Making a contribution easier to understand does not demonstrate a previously unperformed method or check.

Will a ninety-second rehearsal earn a portfolio review at the event?

Treat it as your own practice target. Check the actual review offer and ask before showing material; a rehearsal duration does not allocate personal feedback.
